The ministry of external affairs of india have laid down clear-cut procedures for document apostille which are given below.

1. State HRD/ Home Department attestation / Chamber of commerce authentication

   Before MEA apostille educational, personal and commercial documents need to be first authenticated from HRD, home department and chamber of commerce respectively

2. MEA apostille:

   For educational documents, first the HRD attestation is done followed by MEA apostille. Similarly, with personal and commercial certificates, there is Home Department authentication and Chamber of Commerce authentication, followed by MEA apostille.
